目的・概要

1.         This course will identify key issues concerning globalization in society using diverse materials, and develop awareness about ways of looking at and understanding changing in societies.

2.         This course will discuss developing and transition countries with focusing on references (images, concepts and mindsets etc.) in people’s mind. Participants will learn how to evaluate, judge and measure development reports, newspapers, articles in journals and statistics issued by international organizations.

3.    This course will develop participants’ skills how to describe, depict and conceptualize assigned societies.

テキスト・参考文献など

(1)                    Students will read assigned articles before each class, and actively participate in class discussion.

(2)                 Students will send homework assignments to all participants by e-mail before 1 p.m. on the Tuesday following class.

(3)                 Students will make presentations on their own issues in student classes.

(4)                 Students will send final essays mainly based on their presentations due in July 26, 2012.

5.       There are no make-ups for assignments or essay.

6.       Late assignments and essays will receive rather reduced score.
